Project Inspiration - Glacier Park Cowl

Yes, it's another project from one of my favourite designers, Caitlin Hunter, (@boylandknitworks).  The Glacier Park Cowl is yet another design that melds together the traditional with a modern twist, in this case fair isle colourwork with modern geometrics.

For this project I chose two colours of HFS Merino 4 Ply with a moderate contrast - Vintage Rose and Red Velvet Cake.  I find these two colours very soothing and comforting...a great mix for something you are going to wear around your neck, in my opinion.  I like how the more moderate contrast gives the cowl a watercolour feel, but there are so many options for colour in this project and just looking through the Ravelry gallery will inspire your own choices.

My gauge was pretty spot on with 3 US needles. The only slight modification to the pattern is that mine is about 15" high rather than 12".  The fabric of the colourwork makes this cowl nice and toasty, but still malleable given it's done in lightweight yarn.

This is a great project for someone just getting started with colourwork as there are only two colours, (unless you choose to add more), and easy repeats with no long floats.
